Engraved Drop Pendant Necklace

A drop shaped sterling silver pendant, its surface engraved by hand with hundreds of fine, light-reflecting lines that create a beautiful shimmering effect as the pendant moves.

How it's made

The drop shape is cut by hand from sterling silver sheet, then engraved with a carefully planned pattern of radiating lines, designed and individually cut by Jenny.

The fine V-shaped grooves create hundreds of reflective facets that catch the light from different directions, producing the distinctive radiating effect.

The pendant is finished with a delicate 18" sterling silver chain.

Hand push engraving

Traditional hand push engraving relies on a specially prepared steel tool called a graver, customised to suit the maker's hand and the required cutting geometry.

Rather than using powered or pneumatic machinery, the graver is propelled through the silver by controlled pressure from the hand and arm. The depth, direction and arrangement of each cut are guided by the engraver's movements.
