Jewellery has always brought together the things I enjoy most: design, making and people. I trained at the Sir John Cass School of Art and Design in London, completing a three-year BA(Hons) degree in Silversmithing and Jewellery, before going on to work in London’s Hatton Garden and Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter.

For a while, I moved into graphic and exhibition design with an educational charity, working for museums and science centres. It broadened the way I think about design, particularly how it can influence the way people interact, respond and connect. That understanding of the relationship between design and people still influences my jewellery today.

You can see the design influence in my animals and insects, usual subjects for museum projects, where I learnt to distil their character into simplified, graphic forms. That same approach now shapes them in silver.

Silver is an incredibly versatile material, and much of my work begins simply with sheet and wire. I cut, form, fold, hammer, solder and texture the metal by hand, using traditional silversmithing skills alongside experimentation to explore new forms and finishes. Even when a design is repeated, each piece is individually made and carries the subtle differences that come with that.

Bespoke work gives me the opportunity to take that approach further, working with you to develop an idea into a piece that feels personal and individual.
